Meet Balki Balkis world changed unexpectedly when serious health circumstances affecting his owner made it impossible for them to stay together. Now, this loving 5-year-old, 75-pound boy is hoping for a second chance at the stable, devoted home he deserves. Balki is a gentle, affectionate companion who adores his people. His favorite things include playing fetch, carrying around his beloved Nerf Sonic balls, chewing on a Nylabone, going for walks & car rides, getting belly rubs, and simply spending time with his family. Smart and eager to please, Balki knows sit, down, wait, is fully crate trained, sleeps comfortably in his crate at night, and patiently waits for his release word before meals. He is excellent for baths, brushing, teeth brushing, paw wiping, and sharing his toys. His love of food and willingness to learn make him a great training partner. Balki has successfully lived very amicably with a medium-sized female dog and previously attended doggie daycare, where he was well-liked by the dogs and adored by the staff. While he can be leash-reactive and will need thoughtful introductions to any canine companion, he has shown he can thrive with the right match, and is also ok in group dog class. He does not always recognize his own size when playing excitedly so he may not be the best match for every dog or some young children. Balki will benefit from continued training and reinforcement of polite greetings and leash reactivity. He also takes medication for bladder control, which has been very successful, and he has had no further issues. More than anything, Balki is looking for a family to love. He is a very devoted, affectionate boy who simply wants a place to belong, a ball to chase, someone to share his days with, and a stable, loving home where he can finally settle in and stay.
