About Esme Longtime Resident

Meet Esme, a 5-month-old Shepherd mix urgently looking for a forever home. She has been at the Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield since May 16, 2026, and it's time for her to start a new chapter away from the shelter. Esme has a beautiful black and yellow/tan coat and short fur that’s just waiting for some love. Although she's not yet house trained, she’s a young puppy eager to learn. This sweet girl doesn't have any known special needs, making her adaptable to various home environments. As a medium-sized dog, she has plenty of energy and love to give. It's important to act quickly; the shelter is currently over capacity and dogs and puppies like Esme face high risks if they remain for too long. Contact the Companion Animal Protection Services if you’re interested in adopting or fostering. Let's get Esme the home she deserves!
