URGENT! Fezzik has been diagnosed with a treatable upper-respiratory illness and needs a safe home to recover. He has been at the shelter for almost a month! Fezzik is a 5-month-old Shepherd mix currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter. He has been at the shelter since February 18, 2026 and is ready for his new home. Pet ID: A1242242 Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield to find homes for high risk dogs. The shelter has more than 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five months old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.
