About Betty

Meet Betty! Betty is a delightful, goofy girl who’s about 4 years old. She was found as a stray in Kankakee, but she firmly believes her future is all about being close to her humans. This affectionate girl is a mix of shadow, comedian, and backyard athlete. She absolutely LOVES the outdoors, whether it's running in the yard, chasing birds, or keeping an eye on squirrels. Betty has even dedicated herself to her unusual excavation project, creating a small bunker hole that she’s quite proud of. Inside, Betty enjoys destroying stuffies, chewing on bones, and playfully pestering her foster sister. She follows her foster mom from room to room like a lovable personal assistant, always eager for connection. If you ask for a kiss, she’s quick to oblige, and she takes treats oh-so-gently. She knows commands like "come" and is working on "sit," "stay," and "shake." Here’s a little secret: sometimes she even speaks for snacks! While Betty is incredibly sweet, she does experience some anxiety and doesn’t enjoy being crated. She’s made wonderful progress with patience and support but needs a family that can continue to help her feel safe and confident. Betty would thrive in a home with a fenced yard, older kids (10+), a younger, playful dog companion, and humans who are home often. She has a big heart and is full of love to give, and whoever adopts her will gain a hilarious, loyal best friend.
