Joey is a young, altered male Dachshund weighing in at a small size. He is fully vaccinated and has been house trained. Living in Austin, TX, he enjoys cuddles and walks, making him a charming companion ready for a loving home.

About Joey

Joey recently joined us after being abandoned in a parking lot. Although he has finished all his vetting, he tested positive for heartworms and is beginning treatment. This affectionate little Dachshund thrives on companionship and would be happiest with a stay-at-home person who can give him the love and attention he craves. He enjoys cuddling, going for walks, and sleeping next to you at night, making him an ideal lap dog. Joey does experience some separation anxiety and tends to bark if left alone, but this can be managed with low-dose anxiety medication. He’s also skittish around loud noises and is currently working on crate training—he finds crates and carriers quite intimidating right now. While he loves a yard, he’s just as content indoors. Joey gets along well with both cats and other dogs. If you’re ready for a loyal companion, Joey’s here, waiting to complete your family. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
