About Alfie
Meet Alfie, a 4.5-month-old golden-coated Australian Shepherd/Hound mix currently being fostered in Richmond, VA. Alfie already weighs 14 lbs and is expected to grow into a 45-60 lb dog. He was part of a large litter surrendered as puppies, and has proven to be a gentle, easy-going pup who fits in well with other dogs, cats, and children. Alfie thrives with an active family — he loves water, playing, yard zoomies, and following his humans around the house. He’s learning crate training, is already house trained, and does best when he has a more confident canine companion to look to for guidance, as he can be a bit shy around new people or unfamiliar dogs. Alfie is very affectionate, attached to his person, and enjoys napping after a round of play. He’s up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, has received monthly preventatives, and his adoption fee covers a microchip and future neuter at the right age. Spay/neuter must be completed at an approved clinic reasonably close to Richmond or Virginia Beach. Alfie’s adopter must be committed to ongoing training and socialization, and the rescue prioritizes a thorough vet check and home visit before placing any dog. Aquarians like Alfie are known for their curiosity and gentle independence, making him a great fit for families who like both fun and quiet moments. Every animal deserves a happy ending. This one starts with you.
