About Fred
Meet Fred—better known as Handsome Fred. This tiny Chihuahua survived a rough beginning after turning up heartbreakingly thin, struggling to absorb nutrients, and nearly fading away. Thanks to a diagnosis of EPI, the issue was resolved with a simple enzyme powder, and Fred finally filled out into the sprightly, bright little dog he is today. He’s now a healthy 7.5 pounds and acts as if he’s making up for lost puppyhood moments. Fred’s specialty? Being a professional lap dog. He’s convinced every seated person is a throne, and when he’s curious, you’ll spot a signature head tilt that survived from his sickest days—adorable as ever. Now full of energy, Fred loves squeaky, bouncy, rolling toys—if it moves, he’s chasing it. He loves other dogs and would do best with a confident dog companion willing to help guide him, as he’s still learning to play gently. Fred can get a bit too rambunctious for small kids, especially around running or lively humans, so he’d do best in a calmer, adult home. Potty training is going well, and he’s still working out his overnight routines. He may even try for an athletic move over a baby gate to be with his people. Affectionate, silly, and full of heart, Fred is looking for a family ready to love him for the rest of his life in Salt Lake City, UT. Fred does well with both dogs and cats. Fred is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworm. Fun fact: Fred is a Libra, making him a natural peacemaker who craves company.
