Cheers is a male Labrador Retriever in Newport, KY. He is an adult, medium-sized dog who is house trained and neutered. Cheers returned to rescue seeking a stable and understanding home after a prior adoption.

About Cheers

Cheers returned to the rescue after being adopted as a puppy back in 2015. He appreciates a good butt scratch, is house trained, and needs a patient adopter who understands that new environments overwhelm him. Adjustment takes time for Cheers—think months, not weeks. He’s reserved at first and doesn’t go out of his way to bond with new people, but once he trusts you, he’ll nap at your side and accept affection. If he gets stressed, he’ll bark; that settles down once he feels secure. Cheers tends to develop benign fatty lumps—he had one cancerous mass removed completely, and the rest are harmless. This apparently runs in his bloodline, but it hasn’t stopped him or his siblings from living good lives. He gets overwhelmed by other dogs, children, and has a strong prey drive toward cats. Because of this, he really needs to be the only pet in a home with no kids. What are you waiting for? Apply today!
