About Layla

Layla is an 11-year-old Silky Terrier/Yorkshire Terrier mix who has faced more heartbreak than a little dog ever should. Her first owner suffered a stroke and had to give her up. Layla was adopted again on her 10th birthday, only to be returned a year later when her anxiety led to house accidents. Since coming back to rescue, her foster noticed excessive drinking and urination, and testing revealed she’s in early kidney failure. Layla is now starting a special kidney care diet, and her prognosis depends on follow-up bloodwork in a couple of months – if her values don’t improve, the vet predicts 6-12 months, but if they stabilize, she may enjoy more time. Her adoption fee is waived given the uncertainty ahead, and what Layla needs most is a committed person to see her through this chapter. She isn’t big on other animals but tolerates them as long as they leave her be. What she truly loves is people, and she soaks up affection and attention. Give Layla the loving final home she deserves. Click apply to start the adoption process.

Questions about Layla

Yorkshire Terriers like Layla don't require much yard space. Short walks and indoor play keep her happy. A secure, safe outdoor area is a plus but not a necessity for her.

Layla’s breed can be suitable for homes with respectful children, but because Layla is older and prefers a quieter life, she may be more comfortable in a calm, adult household.
