About Finley
Finley is fostered in South Bend, Indiana, but is looking for his forever home in Ringwood, IL. He’s an 8-year-old tricolor Australian Shepherd with striking blue eyes and only three legs, having lost his back left leg after an injury as a pup. Despite being a tripod, Finley still enjoys fetching a ball, short walks, and even an occasional swim. He prefers to keep close to his person and can usually be found with a ball or stuffed toy firmly in his mouth—those are his greatest comforts. As a senior, stairs can be tough so he’d do best in a single-story home where he can easily follow you without the strain. Finley is crate trained, house trained, and well-behaved in the car, though he’ll need help getting in. He doesn’t jump on furniture and is mostly mellow, but will bark if the other animals get rowdy—his foster calls him a bit of a “referee.” He gets along with other dogs and cats, but after coming from a house with a newborn he didn’t respond well to, he needs a calm, child-free environment. Finley takes daily meds for separation anxiety and Trazadone as needed for storms or fireworks. His adopters must be willing to continue this routine and accommodate his mobility needs. Finley is neutered and up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and receiving monthly preventatives. He’s ready to slow down and settle into a loving home at his own pace. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
