After safely entering foster care, she gave birth to four healthy puppies who have all now been adopted into loving homes. Finally, it’s Winter’s turn to be chosen. Winter spent her entire life outdoors, so she’s still learning how to fully trust people. She can be very nervous in new environments and around unfamiliar people, but once she settles in, her quiet personality begins to shine. Every morning she excitedly greets her foster mom with tail wags and playful bouncing, clearly happy to see the person she trusts most. She’s not currently a dog who seeks out pets or cuddles, but she absolutely enjoys safety, comfort, and companionship. She loves lounging on the couch, laying in the sun, and peacefully existing near her humans. During her heartworm treatment, while sedated, she repeatedly crawled into her foster mom’s lap for comfort — a touching glimpse into the affectionate dog she may become over time. Winter gets along beautifully with other dogs and ignores cats. She would do best in a calm, patient household with older children or adults who understand that trust takes time. Because she can be fearful in unfamiliar situations, a secure backyard is very important for her safety. Winter is looking for someone willing to love her gently, respect her boundaries, and celebrate every little step forward.
