Winter | Learning What Love Feels Like | Transport Available Nationwide ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Winter’s story is one of survival, resilience, and quiet hope 🤍 Found roaming the streets of South Houston during one of the harshest freezes Texas experienced in 2026, Winter had spent nearly her entire life trying to survive on her own. A post online asking for help with a severely pregnant stray led her foster to step in, and after nearly a week of careful planning, Winter was finally safely trapped and brought into rescue. Not long after arriving in foster care, Winter gave birth to four healthy puppies. Her babies have all since found loving forever homes — and now, for the very first time in her life, it’s finally Winter’s turn. Winter is an incredibly sweet soul, but life on the streets taught her to be cautious with people. She’s not the kind of dog who immediately jumps into your lap asking for affection. Instead, she shows love in quieter ways — wagging her tail and bouncing excitedly every morning when she sees her foster mom, coming when called from the backyard, and happily relaxing nearby while feeling safe in her environment. With new people, Winter needs time, patience, and understanding. She’s very nervous in unfamiliar situations and can be a runner in new environments, so a secure backyard is an absolute must for her safety. While she currently doesn’t enjoy being petted much, her foster has seen little glimpses of softness shine through. During her heartworm treatment while under sedation, Winter repeatedly crawled into her foster mom’s lap for comfort — proof that deep down, she truly wants to trust and feel safe. Winter does wonderfully with other dogs and mostly ignores cats. She enjoys lounging on the couch, soaking up the sunshine, and simply existing peacefully in a calm environment. She would do best in a quieter home with older children or adults who understand boundaries and are willing to let her open up on her own timeline. Winter may never be the overly clingy, outgoing dog some people expect — but for the right person, helping this beautiful girl finally feel safe and loved will be incredibly rewarding. She deserves a forever family willing to give her the patience, kindness, and understanding she has never truly had before 💕 Winter is fully vetted and ready to go.
