About Hannah

🐾 Meet Hannah 🐾 Hannah is a tiny Chihuahua with a big heart looking for a loving home to call her own. Hannah came to us as an owner surrender when her elderly owner could no longer care for her. Since joining foster care, this sweet girl has already been making wonderful progress. When Hannah arrived, she was carrying quite a bit of extra weight for her tiny frame. At nearly 11 pounds, moving around and breathing comfortably had become difficult. Through better nutrition, portion control, and gentle activity, Hannah has already slimmed down and is feeling better. Her future family will need to continue helping her stay healthy with good nutrition and opportunities for exercise. Hannah also has a congenital growth difference in one of her back legs that she's had since birth. It doesn't slow her down much, but maintaining a healthy weight is especially important to help keep her comfortable and mobile. Personality-wise, Hannah is an easy girl to love. She enjoys lounging close to her people and would make an excellent lap dog and companion. She lives peacefully with five other small dogs and attends dog daycare regularly, where she does wonderfully with dogs of all sizes. She came to us trained to use indoor pee pads and knows them very well. We have also been working on potty training outdoors, and she has already been showing progress. And one of our favorite things about Hannah? Her tiny bark. It's adorably quiet and raspy β€” almost like she's politely asking for attention instead of demanding it. If you're looking for a sweet, easy companion who will happily keep you company on the couch, follow you around the house, and remind you daily how special little dogs can be, Hannah may be your girl. ❀️ Basics: She is a spayed female guessed to be around 12 yrs old and she weighs close to 10lbs. She is currently in a foster home in Kansas City North with 5 other small dogs and a 7 yr old boy. She goes to doggy daycare daily and does well with the other dogs. About Day of the Dogs Day of the Dogs is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping shelter and rescue dogs find safety, families, and second chances. Founded in 2015 by Kansas City native Pam Siedler, Day of the Dogs began after Pam moved to Houston, Texas and witnessed firsthand the devastating shelter overcrowding crisis facing southern communities, where some shelters have only days to find an outcome for homeless pets. Today, Day of the Dogs coordinates life-saving transports from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and other southern areas to rescue partners, shelters, fosters, and adopters in Northwest Indiana/Chicagoland and the Kansas City region β€” communities where adoption demand can help create better outcomes for pets in need. We also facilitate direct adoptions through our foster networks in both Kansas City and Northwest Indiana and partner with shelters and rescue organizations across Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana to save more lives together. Because every open foster home creates another opportunity to save a dog, we are always looking for foster families to join our mission. Day of the Dogs operates entirely on donations. Every transport, veterinary appointment, supply purchase, and life saved is possible because of supporters who believe every dog deserves a chance.
