Belly Rubs Are Her Love Language Ellie is one of those puppies that feels like she wandered out of somebody’s childhood memory. Born January 23rd, this tiny Dachshund mix has the sweetest, softest little presence about her. She’s more reserved than the rest of Macie’s Babies, but not in a fearful way. Ellie just carries herself like a girl who prefers meaningful conversations over networking events. She likes to quietly observe things first. Meanwhile her siblings are outside performing full-contact NASCAR activities with sticks and leaves, and Ellie is sitting nearby like a tiny retired lady at a casino buffet watching the situation unfold. But don’t let the shy act fool you for too long. The minute Ellie realizes you are there to provide affection, she completely gives herself away. This girl will roll belly-up so fast it genuinely catches people off guard. No gradual trust fall. No hesitation. Just immediate full exposure like she’s clocking into her shift at the Belly Rub Factory. And the funniest part? You will CONSTANTLY find her sleeping flat on her back with all four little legs sticking straight up in the air like she pays taxes there. Completely relaxed. Completely comfortable. Looking like somebody accidentally dropped a tiny baked potato on the couch. Ellie looks the most Dachshund-ish out of the entire litter too, with her little low-rider body, tiny legs, floppy ears, and soft eyes that make her look permanently worried somebody forgot to bring napkins. She absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with another friendly pup. Ellie naturally leans on canine companionship and seems happiest when she has another dog nearby to nap beside, follow around, and quietly copy like the little sister in a sitcom. And while she may not be the loudest puppy in the room, people become attached to her FAST. Because Ellie has that rare kind of sweetness that feels incredibly genuine. Nothing forced. Nothing over-the-top. Just a tiny little puppy that wants to feel safe, be loved, and occasionally launch herself upside down for tummy rubs like it’s an Olympic event. Their mama Macie is only around 15 lbs, so we do not expect these babies to get very big, but Ellie already has the kind of personality that settles into a home naturally. The kind of dog you start making excuses to go check on during the day because seeing her asleep upside down somehow improves your mental health. We have transports departing each week! +++++++ The Truth About Rescue: Every rescue pup is a work in progress — and that’s the beauty of it. None of them come wrapped in a bow, ready-made or mistake-free. They come with stories, quirks, and hearts that have seen a lot but still choose to trust again. Adoption isn’t about perfection; it’s about presence. Showing up for them, every day, until they know they’re finally home. That’s when you’ll see them bloom — soft and steady — into the very best version of themselves. And somewhere along the way, you’ll realize they were never the only one being rescued. +++++++ What Is a Benefactor Dog or Puppy, and Why Is the Adoption Fee Higher? Benefactor dogs and puppies are typically purebreds or high-demand rescues who tend to find homes quickly—even with a higher adoption fee. These dogs play a special role in our mission. Their increased fees help cover the costs for dogs who need much more time, care, and resources before they’re ready for adoption. Some dogs spend months—even over a year—in our care, requiring expensive surgeries, heartworm treatment, behavioral training, or ongoing medical support. By adopting a Benefactor dog, you're not only giving them a loving home—you’re also helping to fund the second chance of another dog still waiting for theirs. It’s a meaningful way to make a difference beyond just one life. +++++++ Once we have received your application, we will review and reach out to set-up an interview with one of our volunteers! If you have additional questions, please email us at SaintMuttsInquiries@gmail.com. Note: As with all of our rescues, we recommend homes with children 10 years and over to ensure the best fit for both the pets and families involved.
