About Electra

This is some Bullsh#! Literally, we are pretty sure this little girl we named Electra is some kind of Shih Tzu/Pit Bull mix… a Pit Tzu, or better yet, Bull… well you know. Definitely some kind of little fluffy dog mixed with a bigger terrier of some sort. It’s total BS that this scared adorable puppy was abandoned at only 7-8 months old. She was terrified and we had to peel her out of the back of her kennel at animal control where she was pancaked frozen in fear. But she quickly melted into our arms, and bonds and turns into a sweet playful puppy. A little too quickly. She faked us out with her calm quiet shut-down-in-terror act but in a few hours and with the help of some doggie friends she showed us she’s a real rough-and-tumble, jumping, wrestling terrier puppy. High energy and fun. She’s working on crate training, learning to be alone without screaming, and housebreaking and is smart and eager to learn. She doesn’t walk, she bounds, zooms, and prances like she’s doing an imaginary agility course. She shows some initial stranger danger- barking and avoiding, but is very food motivated and after a few snacks you will get tail wags and probably her catapulting into your lap. But will definitely need a lot of positive socialization to the outside world. Electra is only about 15lbs and expect her to maybe fill out a bit wider but not get too much bigger. She has an amazing little scruffy Mohawk and that wiry just-licked-an-electrical-socket hair style that makes her ridiculously adorable. She does shed and doesn’t need regular grooming other than brushing, an easy to care for wash and wear coat. We should actually put it in our adoption contract that you must never ever shave her perfect scruffy whiskers and mohawk 😜 👎 💇‍♀️ . Electra is the only kind of BS that will actually make your life more fun… email njwoof@cs.com to meet our unique little pup in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
