About Thierry

*New Videos 5/12* Thierry ACCT-A-249233 is a 1-year-old female who came into the shelter as an owner surrender on May 2nd, along with her companion Thor, after their owner was incarcerated. The relative who surrendered them described them as very friendly, well-trained, and mannered, noting that they react well toward strangers and children and are high energy and very active. Thierry is a sweet, gentle girl who is still finding her footing in the shelter environment. Earlier in her stay, the kennel setting had her understandably stressed - showing a tucked tail, wide eyes, and some wariness around new people and sounds - but she was always food-motivated and never showed any aggression. With patience and a calm environment, Thierry is blossoming. She's looking for a rescue partner who can give her the stability to keep showing the world who she really is. She's very well mannered, gives me no issues leashing her. She is still shy about walking through the kennels, and I can't blame her with all the noise and activity. However, once she gets into the yard, she is a fun-loving, happy girl. She ran, she rolled - she did lots of back wiggles, I swear she even did a somersault. She just loves her yard time and takes full advantage of enjoying every moment she's outside. She allows belly rubs, and even a quick kiss on the nose. She had a nice walk along and short meet with Gello on the way into the shelter. It's so rewarding to watch her transformation of shy and nervous to fun loving girl. per volunteer 5/9 - When I went to get Thierry today, she was by herself. She was kenneled with her brother Thor, but he found placement, so she's now alone. She has been shy about being leashed and walking out, but today she was at the front of her kennel. She's still a little cautious about being leashed, but she stepped out and proceeded slowly through the aisles. I was able to walk her out through the shelter and out the volunteer door. Once she gets into the yard, she did lots of zoomies. She chased the ball, but didn't retrieve it. And after several zoomies, she settled down and had these adorable back rolls, so I gave her belly pats. One time, she scooted forward to get head pets. It's so nice to be able to give her pets. She's still flinches when hands are suddenly overhead. Outside, we passed a female ACA who wanted to meet her, but Thierry pulled as far away from the person as the leash allowed, so she's still very shy with new people, but she might be more relaxed meting them in the yard. I had no issues returning her to her kennel. I was afraid she'd be shy without her brother, but she's not. Her joy and playfulness in the yard are wonderful to see. Per staff 5/12: Playgroup - Steer test: 3/5 with water. Loose and wiggly with soft eyes at the fence. Submissive rolling on back when dogs came over to her. Then she'd get up and run around with the dogs. Jumping up on handlers. Gentle and dainty. Per staff 5/6: Kennel Presentation: In a kennel with another dog. Came up to the front with wide eyes, ears back and tail down. Leash Skills: Had to ask for assistance to separate the dogs and close the guillotine. She was easy to leash and came out slowly. When I was putting the stopper down on the leash she dropped to the ground. Hyper vigilant walking through the kennels, eyes darting, tail tucked and body hunched. Sociability: Asocial. Tail tucked, wide eyes and ears to the side. Would come over and sniff my shoe or leg but if I reached out to pet she would move away. Flinched. Play: N/A Dog Interaction: Met fellow. Tolerant and avoidant. Return to Kennel: Hesitant to go through doorways. Needed a lot of encouragement. Went right back into the kennel without hesitation and I removed the leash with my hand. Color Level: Blue Per staff 5/3: Tried to get her out for a dog meet, ears back, wide soft eyes, laid down when I opened the door. Ate the hot dogs that I offered and slowly crawled to the front with a trail of hot dogs. Was able to leash with a treat lure, once leashed she retreated to the back of the kennel, wide soft eyes, ears pinned back, furrowed brow. With a trail of hot dogs we made our way to the front again and she took one out of my hand, wide soft eyes, low tail wags. A staff member walked by rolling a trash can which was loud, she retreated to the back of the kennel, whale eyes, ears pinned back, furrowed brow and avoiding eye contact. She was no longer eating hot dogs that I offered. Decided to end it there for today. Making rescue only until evaluated. Per owner surrender notes 5/2: Both dogs are very friendly, well-trained and mannered. Housetrained, crate trained, walks perfectly fine on leash. High energy. Knows sit, stay, and outside. She reacts well towards strangers and children. - ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week.
