Location: Austin, TX DOB: 03/28/2023 Ebony is an absolute sweetheart with all the goofy, lovable charm Great Danes are known for. She is happy, affectionate, playful, and incredibly loving, with a silly personality that makes her impossible not to adore. Ebony has great manners overall, listens well, and is very eager to please — especially when treats are involved! She is very food-motivated and tends to eat quickly, so she currently uses a slow feeder, which has worked wonderfully. Ebony has shown no signs of food aggression or resource guarding in her foster home. She shares toys nicely and absolutely loves playing with her foster sibling, a 50-pound mixed breed dog. Ebony was originally surrendered with a small dog named Cowboy, so she is comfortable around dogs of all sizes. Like many Danes, Ebony is a true “Velcro dog.” She loves being close to her people, follows her foster from room to room, and happily sleeps on the bed at night. She thrives on companionship and wants nothing more than to be included as part of the family. She is affectionate without being overwhelming and gives the sweetest kisses. Her tail never seems to stop wagging — she is truly such a happy girl. Ebony also has the cutest little “talking” personality. While she is not an excessive barker, she will adorably vocalize when she wants attention, help retrieving a toy, or maybe even a bite of your snack. Her little conversations are incredibly endearing and just add to her funny, loving nature. Although Ebony is petite for a Great Dane, she is still very much all Dane — loyal, goofy, affectionate, and full of love. When she arrived in foster care, she was underweight, but she has already started filling out nicely and is doing great. -Energy Level Ebony has a moderate energy level. She enjoys playtime and being active, but she also settles down well and loves relaxing with her people. -Favorite Things About Ebony Ebony is as cute as they come and has the sweetest, goofiest personality. She absolutely loves toys and will happily empty the toy basket one toy at a time so she can enjoy every single one. She is playful and silly but also incredibly cuddly and loves curling up on the couch for snuggles and belly rubs. Like many Great Danes, Ebony has no idea how big she is and has very little sense of personal space — which only makes her more lovable. When she gets especially excited, she does the funniest little vertical leap with all four paws leaving the ground, especially when she’s excited to come back inside from the yard. Ebony loves everyone she meets and has done beautifully with other dogs. She is gentle, affectionate, and not dominant at all — she simply wants to love and be loved. -Fears & Dislikes Ebony doesn’t seem fearful of much. She is not a fan of the vacuum and would definitely prefer not to go outside in the rain, but otherwise she appears confident and well-adjusted. -Training & Behavior Housetrained: Yes Leash Walking: Walks well on leash Car Rides: Does great in the car Crate Training: Not yet tested Muzzle Trained: Unknown Ebony is a smart girl with a few funny quirks. She has discovered that plastic items are fun to chew, so remotes and similar items should be kept out of reach when she is left alone. She also needs regular potty breaks after meals and benefits from a consistent routine. -Dogs, Cats & Kids Ebony has done wonderfully with other dogs and would likely thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion. She plays beautifully, enjoys wrestling and tug-of-war, and has shown a very easygoing personality around other dogs. Her foster does not have cats, so her behavior around cats is unknown. Ebony has not been around small children in foster care, but due to her size and excitement level, she would likely do best with older children who understand large dogs. She absolutely loves people and happily greets everyone she meets. -Medical Ebony is spayed, heartworm negative, and appears to be very healthy overall. -Ideal Home Ebony’s perfect home would be filled with love, companionship, playtime, and plenty of toys. She would thrive with a family who wants a dog to truly be part of everyday life. A home with another friendly dog would likely make her especially happy, and she would do best with people who are home often or can provide her with regular companionship and potty breaks. She loves toys — especially durable toys like Kongs, bones, and stuffing-free toys — and she has a talent for finding every hidden toy in the house! Ebony is a big, goofy, affectionate girl with so much love to give. She will make an incredible companion for someone looking for a loyal best friend, couch cuddle buddy, and playful family member all wrapped into one adorable Great Dane package.
