Meet Wilbur 💙 📍 Hempstead, TX 🎂 DOB: 03/26/2023 If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh every single day, Wilbur is your guy. This sweet, goofy boy is full of personality and even more love—he’s the kind of dog who is just so grateful to be with his people and wants nothing more than cuddles and companionship. Wilbur has a moderate energy level—he enjoys getting outside and stretching his legs, but he’s just as happy to settle down and relax with you. A backyard is more than enough for him, especially if it comes with plenty of love and attention. And let’s talk about his quirks, because Wilbur is truly one of a kind. He sleeps upside down, snores like a champ, and sometimes even falls asleep sitting or standing up. He drinks water with his nose pressed into the bowl, bounces when he walks, and after going to the bathroom, he does his own little “yard aeration dance” before hopping away. When it’s cuddle time, he doesn’t just want to be near you—he wants to be in your skin. He’s also rocking adorable double dew claws, which he occasionally treats like built-in chew toys, and he already knows how to sit—though he’ll usually offer both paws right after, just in case you want a double shake. Wilbur is housetrained, does well in a crate, rides nicely in the car, and walks well on a leash. He’s great with other dogs of all sizes and genders, and he’s done wonderfully with children—even as young as two. If he ever feels overwhelmed, he simply walks away. He’s also friendly with new people—he may give a little bark at first, but warms up quickly after a sniff. He can be a bit sensitive to fast movements or restraint, so he’ll do best in a home that is patient and gentle with him. Wilbur is currently being treated for heartworms, and he has a dislocated hip that doesn’t slow him down one bit. His perfect home? One where he gets lots of love, affection, and time with his people. He’s adaptable and could do well even in a home where someone works longer hours—as long as he gets all the love and attention when they’re home.
