About Scuttlebutt

Scuttlebutt, or “Scutty” as his foster family calls him, is a big-hearted lapdog through and through. Born April 11, 2022, his Aries spirit shines in the way he charges toward life’s joys: affection, toys, and time spent with his people. Though large and sturdy, Scutty curls up like a little pup on any available lap, soaking in every minute of attention. He thrives on forming close bonds and wants to be included in the rhythms of daily life. He carries a comfortable, moderate energy, happy to join in a walk, romp in the yard, or do enthusiastic zoomies before settling in for long naps. His gentle prance when excited and attachment to his favorite squeaky reindeer toy are hard not to smile at. Scutty is friendly and affectionate with people, including adults, teenagers, and older children, and greets visitors with warmth. He’s not a big barker but loves to “converse” with gentle whines. Scutty is house-trained and walks well on leash, thriving best on a routine. In cold weather, he enjoys sporting a hoodie or coat. He does have some sensitivities and needs adopters who understand that the sweetest dogs sometimes carry their own emotional baggage. He is reactive at first to unfamiliar dogs but, with patience and slow introductions, can become affectionate and playful with them—he currently lives happily with a female Golden Retriever. Separation anxiety is a challenge: Scutty becomes distressed if left alone for long and would do best with people home most of the time or another compatible canine companion. Past rough handling has made him a bit wary in certain situations, and he seeks reassurance during storms. Scutty is currently under treatment for heartworms but is expected to recover fully with proper care. Patient, gentle guidance and steadfast companionship will bring out the best in him—and he’ll repay it with loyal love and endless cuddles. They are ready to love you; are you ready to apply?
