Sweet, sweet Vivian was turned in to a regional shelter after her elderly owner could not care for her any more. The adult son wouldn't touch her without gloves, and when asked the dogs name, he replied with something we cannot repeat. So her new name is Vivian. This 15-yr. old little girl came in blind, underweight, with luxating patellas and a strange fluid-filled mass on her abdomen. She mostly likely is partially deaf. She weighs only 2-3 pounds. We have done senior blood work, drained the mass and are trying to get a healthy amount of weight back on without subjecting her back legs to too much load. With all she's been through, she is lively, confident, loves to snuggle and give kisses, and LOVES to run around the yard. Vivian is navigating her new foster home like a champ, loves her crate and rides well in the car. She did great at her first public outing and loved people of all ages. She does well around dogs and cats. WE ONLY ADOPT WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs. If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required, which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name. ADOPTION FEE of $265 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip, heartworm test and treatment if needed, and any other medical that may be required while in rescue. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap, so thank you for understanding and helping us save as many as possible. We only do adoptions on Saturday, and not all animals are able to attend. If you would like to see a specific animal, please let us know via email and we will try to accommodate. However, we cannot guarantee the animal will be at the event without an approved application.
