About Duke
Meet Duke, a 17-month-old blue Merle Australian Shepherd looking for his next adventure. Duke came from a caring home that could no longer keep him due to health challenges, so he's now with Aussie Rescue of the Mid-Atlantic. Duke has been neutered, is current on vaccines, and is house trained. He’s a sensitive, loyal companion who prefers a little time to warm up to new faces, but quickly becomes devoted once he feels comfortable. Duke is happiest when he’s with his people and does well out in nature—wading and swimming in creeks, taking walks, or joining on longer hikes, though he’s not a big fan of car rides. He’s a bit overweight at the moment; getting active will help him thrive. Duke is calm, quiet, and crates without fuss. He’s friendly with other dogs, communicates his boundaries clearly, and sometimes joins in play with the right match, but his real bond is with his human. Duke would love a home that will encourage his confidence and share their time outdoors. Ready to meet your new best friend? Apply now!
