About Darcy

Darcy is the definition of a happy-go-lucky companion with a heart full of sunshine and a tail that never stops. She has known her name since she was just 6 months old, and she's been charming everyone she meets ever since. Darcy came to HALO after her family went through a relationship split and, through no fault of her own, neither party was able to continue caring for her. This sweet girl lives for the good things in life: meeting new dog friends, sunbathing like it's a full-time job, trips to the beach, and being close to her people. She's wonderful with kids of all ages, from newborns to pre-teens, and has a gentle, easygoing nature that makes her a joy to have around the home. Darcy has a few favorite indulgences too--ice cubes, lick mats, bones, and couch naps all rank very high on her list. And if there's food involved, she'll happily perform her signature "happy dance," which is as adorable as it sounds. She's affectionate, social, and happiest when she's included in daily life. Darcy doesn't love car rides and will shake and drool a bit, but she will get in politely if you ask her sweetly--she's nothing if not cooperative for her people. As far as medical needs go, Darcy has unfortunately developed hip dysplasia and a ruptured cruciate ligament. At her age and size, surgical intervention is not recommended, so she will require lifelong pain management medication to keep her comfortable, mobile, and enjoying her days. With her adorable underbite, joyful personality, and constant good mood, Darcy is the kind of dog who brings light wherever she goes. She's ready for a home where she can be loved, included, and cherished as part of the family she's always been meant for.
