Luna is an active and intelligent American Staffordshire Terrier/Pointer mix who truly thrives on leadership, regular exercise, and a predictable daily routine. Without these essentials, she previously became overstimulated, which led to resource-guarding behaviors with the other dog in her home. Fortunately, Luna got the right support from a dedicated trainer, Brittany, who weaned her off ineffective anxiety medications. Through patient and thoughtful training, Luna blossomed into a clear-headed, happy dog who loves to learn, play, and simply enjoy life. She now lives in a foster home with a balanced pack of four dogs, and for the past six months has been completely off medication, showing off her gentle, loving, and incredibly playful personality. Luna is goofy and affectionate. She snuggles on the sofa when invited and adores spending time with her humans. She’s proven herself trustworthy and is allowed free roam in her foster home, but still enjoys having a crate for overnight and when alone. Luna is wonderfully social—she loves meeting new people, is neutral towards other dogs in public, and enjoys adventures off-leash. She’s eager to please, picks up on training quickly, and loves having a sense of purpose. An energetic girl with moderate drive, Luna does best with plenty of physical and mental activity and would be happiest with an experienced owner who can provide structure and a calm environment. She enjoys learning new skills, playing ball or frisbee, going for walks and hikes, and swimming. Luna is friendly with people of all ages but would be happiest in a home with older children. She would do great as an only dog or with a laid-back, compatible canine companion.
