Hank is a tricolor (brown, black, and white) beagle with a short coat and medium build, living in West Decatur, PA. He is an adult male who is not yet neutered and doesn’t have his vaccinations up to date. While eager for love, Hank is still working on housetraining and will need a patient adopter committed to his ongoing adjustment and growth.

About Hank

Hank is about 3 years old and came up from a shelter in West Virginia where he didn’t have much time left. He thrives around other dogs and really lights up in their company, but people still make him nervous—he’s warming up with patience and gentle encouragement. Shelter staff think he was likely abused, and he came in absolutely terrified of leashes and touch. Since arriving at Nittany Beagle Rescue, Hank has been making clear progress each week, slowly learning to trust and even showing moments of real happiness. He’s currently staying at a boarding kennel and does fine there, but he needs a quiet, low-key home with someone willing to go at his pace. Having another dog in the house will help Hank feel more secure—he depends greatly on canine companionship to boost his confidence. Hank is still working on housetraining and basic house manners, and when frightened, he may try to bolt, so safety and vigilance are crucial for his safety. Despite his rough start, Hank is worth it for anyone who is patient and committed to helping a timid but good-hearted dog find his footing. Click apply to start the adoption process.
