Dustin
AvailableDustin is a large, short-coated neutered male German Shepherd Dog/Pit Bull Terrier mix with a unique background, currently living in Bellingham, WA. At just over 2 years old, he’s house trained, vaccinated, and has three legs due to a previous injury. Despite his amputation, he is fully mobile and playful. Dustin’s affectionate nature shines through in any setting, and his training and socialization make him a model companion.
About Dustin
Dustin is a 2-year-old Shepherd, Pitbull, and Husky mix, with a heap of other breeds in the blend—DNA test results included for the curious. Saved from the euthanasia list due to a leg injury, Dustin now moves on three legs as a tripod, but that hasn't slowed him down at all. He’s completely healed, runs, plays, and chases toys like any other dog. Dustin’s social streak is huge; he gets along with pretty much everyone he meets, human and canine alike. Another dog at home would be great for him, but he’s also fine solo. He does best in cat-free homes as he’s extra interested in cats, but with dedicated training, living with one could be possible. Dustin is great with children, though his loving 'lean-ins' may tip over the littlest kids—he’s gentle but big and enthusiastic. He has completed a full board and train program and comes crate trained, house trained, knows his obedience commands, nails leash walks, and can even go off-leash with an e-collar. His adoption includes lifetime training support and access to his training videos. Dustin is fostered in Bellingham, WA, fully vetted, and adopts out to homes in Canada, too. Questions about Dustin
What type of living environment is this breed usually best suited for?
Dustin’s mix of German Shepherd, Pit Bull Terrier, and Husky does best in homes with plenty of interaction, stimulation, and structure. He thrives in active households where he can socialize and play.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Large, securely fenced yards are ideal for Dustin, but daily walks or outings where he can safely exercise and explore are also great. His playful energy needs regular outlets, even as a tripod.
Is this breed typically suitable for homes with children?
Dustin, like most Shepherd, Pitbull, and Husky mixes, generally gets along well with children. With his gentle—but enthusiastic—nature, supervision is best around smaller kids to avoid accidental knockovers.
