About Athena
Athena is a five-year-old Cane Corso with a strong, independent streak. She came to the shelter after being found tied to a tree at a local park and has come a long way since then. At about 85 lbs with a short tan and brown coat, Athena walks nicely on a leash and already knows how to sit and give paw. She isn't a quick-to-trust dog; several meet-and-greet sessions are essential before adoption so she can get comfortable with you. Athena has made solid progress with volunteers but remains wary around new people—especially men—and is particularly nervous around children, so a home without kids is a must. She's selective with other dogs and currently only gets along with one shelter mate, making introductions with any resident pets necessary. Athena prefers a calm, drama-free environment and seems to open up more to women. With time and patience, she’ll show her loyal and affectionate side to the right adopter. What are you waiting for? Athena, as a Cane Corso, would do best in a home with a securely fenced yard and space to move around. A calm, structured environment suits her temperament well.
How much outdoor space does this breed typically need?
Cane Corsos like Athena need a good amount of outdoor space, ideally a yard where they can roam safely. They’re not a breed well-suited to small apartments without daily exercise.
