About Jersey
Meet #Jersey Can you imagine being so hungry… so desperate to survive… that you’re found eating a deer carcass on the side of the road just to stay alive? That’s exactly how Jersey was found. She and another dog were discovered on Cadwallader Sonk and Route 193 in Fowler Township, Ohio, trying to survive the only way they knew how. When they arrived to us, both dogs were severely emaciated and dehydrated. It was clear they had been struggling for a long time. No dog should ever have to live like that. Jersey is starting to settle in here at the shelter. She’s a very quiet girl who doesn’t bark much. Mostly she just watches the world around her, still unsure of everything, still trying to figure out if she’s finally safe. We believe she may be a Cane Corso / Great Dane mix, but we can’t say for certain. What we do know is that she is absolutely stunning ,tall, slender, and beautiful , though right now she is far too thin and needs to put on some healthy weight. Despite everything she’s been through, she seems to do fine around the other dogs here, though a meet and greet with resident dogs is always required. Because she is still decompressing and learning to trust again, we are recommending older, respectful children in the home. Jersey deserved better than what she’s been given so far in life. But her story doesn’t have to end that way. She deserves a warm home. A full belly. A soft bed. And people who will love her for the rest of her life and never let her struggle like that again. If anyone recognizes Jersey or knows where she may have come from, please reach out to us. We would love to know more about her story. If you would like to give Jersey the safe and loving home she deserves, please submit a foster or adoption application to: Healthyheartsproject.org/adopt A team member will reach out within 24–48 hours to schedule a meet and greet.
