About Benny

Click apply to start the adoption process. Meet Benny! Benny is an adorable, 3-year-old, 11 lb Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix who began his journey in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Found as a stray and brought to a busy shelter, Benny was initially quite scared, which is no surprise for such a small pup in an overwhelming environment. Despite the challenges, Benny’s kind and gentle nature quickly shined through and won the hearts of everyone he met. Since arriving in Colorado and settling into his foster home at the end of March, Benny has blossomed. He delights in getting snuggles and is showing off his sweet personality every day. His foster describes him as a gentle soul who needed just a few days to warm up. Once he felt comfortable, he became a devoted and cuddly companion, eating well and growing more affectionate by the day. Benny can be a bit shy at first but warms up quickly, especially with treats! He rarely barks at new people, enjoys meeting other dogs on walks, and would likely thrive with a doggy friend in his forever home. Though he still gets a little nervous before his walks, he perks up quickly and enjoys exploring. Most of his time, however, is spent lounging contently and soaking up attention. This sweet boy is house trained, has easily transitioned to roaming indoors without being crated, and doesn’t bark or whine when left alone—he simply relaxes on the couch. He's playful in small bursts, but above all, Benny loves to cuddle and enjoy calm company. He would do especially well with a retired adopter or someone who works from home, as he cherishes companionship and a predictable routine. Benny will thrive in a home that can provide consistent love, stimulation, and positive reinforcement. A group training class is required to help build Benny’s confidence and set him up for success. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, healthy, and heartworm negative. Farfel's Rescue offers a one-week trial for every adoption, ensuring a good match for both dog and adopter.
