Bonita has arrived, and although scared, she is settling in to her Dogwood foster home in her soft, warm bed and is hanging out with her foster family on the sofa, along with the resident dogs. Although Bonita is currently nervous in her brand new surroundings, and taking a bit to warm up, she is eating well, taking naps, and is non-reactive.to the other dogs. We are looking forward to watching this little beauty blossom into the young, playful pup that she will be in her new life. Bonita is an adorable Chihuahua/Pug type mix and is such a pretty little girl, probably just under 10 pounds and maybe a year old. After some time to settle in and her vet exam, we may update these estimates. Six small female dogs were living in a crummy outdoor kennel and all were either pregnant or soon to be pregnant. We agreed to take all six in order to stop the cycle of reproduction and had planned to spay/abort immediately if possible. With the devastating overpopulation crisis, and so many unwanted puppies already born and breathing and waiting without hope, it's truly the kindest thing. One little mama actually delivered before getting on transport. She will raise her family in love and comfort in her Dogwood foster home, and then she and pups will be spayed/neutered and placed in loving homes, as will the other girls.
