Mason brings together the mellow wisdom of an old soul and the sneaky spark you'd expect from a toddler. In early November, good Samaritans stepped in after Mason endured a dog attack. Now fully healed and back to a healthy weight, he’s got the look of a "Border Aussie"—part Border Collie, part Australian Shepherd—at about 8 years old but still eager for new adventures. Mason is devoted to his people and craves human company. He's shown no aggression to people or other dogs, but because he’s very affectionate—some might say pushy—a home without very young kids is safest. While he’s mastered the doggie door, his strong desire to be near his humans makes him a talented escape artist; a very secure yard and a Mason-proof crate are essential. Years on the street have worn his teeth down, but that hasn’t stopped him from being a determined—and sometimes destructive—chewer. He'll need to be securely crated at night and when alone, for his own safety, since he’ll happily chew on almost anything. Mason is fully crate and house trained but would much rather spend time out in the world with his humans. His best fit will be a family that keeps daytime crating to a minimum and wants a loyal shadow. With patience, structure, and affection, Mason promises years of steady companionship and goofy love.
