Drake
AvailableDrake is a young, large Labrador Retriever living in Omaha, NE. He is a neutered male who is fully house trained. Drake gets along with other dogs and children, but not with cats. His gentle, cautious temperament is shaped by his past experiences, and he needs a confident resident dog and a patient home to thrive.
About Drake
Drake is a 1.5-year-old yellow lab who’s had a rough start. He spent his first year living in a large outdoor hoarding situation in Nebraska, where he got little care and learned to be cautious to survive. Drake is naturally timid and submissive, which left him vulnerable in that environment, but he managed to come through and is slowly discovering what a safe, loving home feels like. His wounds—physical and emotional—are healing, and he’s taking small but steady steps forward. He’s now living in foster care with several other dogs, and it’s clear he relies on the company of a confident canine friend. Any adopter must have another dog for Drake to lean on. He is quiet, low-key, crate- and house-trained, and will ask to go outside by whining. If you approach gently, he’ll let you sit beside him and enjoys pets and brushings. While he’s not ready to walk on a leash and might never be, Drake finds comfort in his routines and favorite spots. He absolutely loves his meals and has discovered a new favorite bone. Drake isn’t for everyone. He needs adopters with patience, empathy, and realistic expectations—someone who understands that trust will take time and effort. But he’s an extremely rewarding project for the right person, and each sign of progress will feel like a win. A securely fenced yard is a must, and the family should embrace his cautious, gentle spirit. Click apply to start the adoption process.
