About Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler Dogs

Australian Cattle Dogs, also known as Blue Heelers, are tough, intelligent herding dogs bred to drive cattle across the rugged Australian outback. They are incredibly loyal and form a deep bond with their primary person. Their blue or red speckled coat and alert expression reflect their working heritage.

Adopting an Australian Cattle Dog means gaining a devoted, energetic partner who excels at learning and working. They need a job to do and thrive with active owners who can channel their boundless energy into constructive activities.

Wildflowers in the limestone hills and forest are spectacular. Griffy Lake is beautiful as the canopy fills in. Thunderstorms increase and tornado watches are possible. Ticks emerge early in the wooded terrain.

Jun – Aug

Warm and humid but the forest canopy provides welcome shade. Morning walks on the B-Line Trail and around Griffy Lake are pleasant. The campus area quiets down in summer, offering peaceful walking routes.
