About Emmy

***Emmy is in a foster home, so she is not at the kennel. If you are interested in her, please fill out an application at K9stray.com and we will be in touch. Thank you.*** Emmy is so stinking cute! She is estimated to be about 2 years old and full of fun! Emmy came to the rescue 2 months ago in terrible shape. She was severely emaciated weighing in at only 5.7 pounds, matted, flea infested and pretty sick. She went right into a foster home the day we got her. Emmy has been a strict refeeding program and now weighs 10.5 pounds, almost doubling her weight and has blossomed into the most beautiful, playful little girl. She is ready to find her forever family, who will love her more than anything and care for her like she deserves. Her foster mom has a lot of information to share: I have so much to say about sweet Emmy. I cannot believe how much she has changed since I have had her. When I first got Emmy, she was like holding a little skeleton, I would have to carry her up and down the 2 steps to go out for potty because she couldn't do it and she slept a lot, just trying to heal. Well, now she zips around the house, flies up and down the stairs and looks fantastic. She is silly, playful, cuddly, active and so much more. She just loves walks and smelling everything, picking up pinecones and throwing them in the air (it is very cute) and chasing leaves, so I know she would love it if her new family liked to go for walks! Another one of her favorite things is to lay in her bed by my computer while I work, she is nice company for sure. Emmy loves her big 80 pound foster brother, even if he does steal all the toys! They have so much fun playing together, so it would be nice if there was another friendly dog in the house. Emmy loves to cuddle at night with you, either watching TV or while you are reading a book. She is kind of the best of both worlds, she loves to party, be active and have fun, but she will also lay in her bed while you work if need be. To be honest though, Emmy does not love her kennel and can be very loud when she doesn't want to be in there, so I don't think she would do well in an apartment. She has to be kenneled at my house if I leave and at bedtime as I do have another dog in the home, and I have to be extra safe. I am also working with Emmy on being mouthy when she is excited and jumping up on you. She is awesome in the car for traveling in her travel crate, we of course have had many vet visits, gone to the groomers (they said she was great) and driving to different parks for walks. Emmy needs an active home where her family is home a lot and where any children are a little older, due to her mouthiness, how small she is and she is quick, so I would hate for her to sneak out a door. I think Emmy is absolutely wonderful and is going to make someone or some family a wonderful, silly best friend. If you are interested in Emmy and are at least 21 years old, please fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*
