About Lance

He survived the meat trade… just to almost be killed by his owner 5 years later. Yes. You read that right. Lance was rescued from South Korea’s meat trade by another rescue. That rescue had him flown to safety. Adopted in Tampa into what was supposed to be his forever home. That adopter pursued him heavily, passed the background and home checks. Claimed she would love him forever. That didn’t last long. FIVE YEARS. Honestly, the story is kind of sketchy. It sounds like she stopped loving him even before that. Her solution? -Take him to be euthanized. The vet refused. So the conversation turned into: “I’ll find other options.” Let’s be very clear about something: Dogs are not seasonal. They are not “until it’s inconvenient.” They are not “until Christmas spirit wears off.” You don’t get to save a dog from one death… just to sentence him to another later. To be clear, the original rescue did step in immediately when contacted and did everything right. But because they are out of state, they asked us to help take over locally. An incredible Florida husky friend stepped up in the emergency and has already gone above and beyond for him. This transfer from their rescue to us is simply about getting him into the right long-term placement and support system here. When he was removed from that owner situation, he wasn’t aggressive. He wasn’t dangerous. He was shut down. Depressed. Heartbroken. he was FAILED by humanUNkind, for the second time. And here’s the part people need to hear: He’s actually a great dog. 6 years old Crate trained, non-destructive Loves walks & running Good recall (yes, really. Unicorn husky vibe) Good with people No resource guarding with humans Dog social (sets boundaries appropriately) Has done well with cats! He didn’t fail. He was failed.
