Meet our silly Chihuahua girl named Dawn! Dawn is about 4.5 years old and she came to us after she was found abandoned in town. You may have seen Dawn's story posted on our Facebook page. On 4/10/26, Dawn was found abandoned, left locked in a crate in a parking lot about 1 mile from our shelter. She had a sweater on and a short note about feeding her. We also discovered she had a microchip that said she was originally from Texas. Dawn was pretty scared her first day with us, but she warmed up to our female staff very quickly. Treats are the way to Dawn's heart! She is a very good eater and she is not picky about her dry food. Dawn is a playful and active little dog who loves getting attention from the people she trusts. She can hop right onto a couch and she is a great snuggle buddy! Unfortunately, Dawn is extremely fearful of men and usually exhibits fear aggression towards them. Due to this, we are looking for a home where only women reside. We are also looking for a home with adults only or older teenage female children who are respectful of dogs. Dawn is good with other dogs and she really enjoys the company of dog friendly cats. She is looking for her forever home where she will never be dumped on the street like trash again! There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal. Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal.
