Sounds like he was poorly socialized much of his life, kept in a kennel, attacked by a bigger dog and all that great history but seems now like a happy guy who knows boundaries and is well behaved when corrected. At only 10 pounds I think its fixable whatever his issues might be. And hey, living with a bunch of cats may not sit well with the little old guy.
