Meet Charlie Barley! Shepherd Mix 2 years old 40 lbs Neutered Male Health: Heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines. Charlie Barley is a fun-loving, intelligent Shepherd mix with energy to spare and a big heart to match. At 2 years old, he's in his prime and thrives when he has an outlet for both his physical energy and active mind. This guy needs an active home-think daily walks, play sessions, yard time, and engagement. He's not a couch potato; he's a let's-go-do-something partner who will happily join you for adventures and then settle in once his needs are met. Charlie does great with other dogs and people, including at doggie daycare where he's social and well-adjusted. He also loves kids, but due to his enthusiasm and energy level, he would do best with older, dog-savvy kiddos. Home Needs: Active family committed to daily exercise Calm home with routine and structure Older children needed Dog-friendly home welcome Charlie is fully potty trained. At night, he prefers to be out and doesn't get into trouble when free roaming. Charlie is smart, eager to please, and very trainable-but like many young, intelligent dogs, he benefits from clear leadership and consistency. He has recently shown some resource guarding behaviors in the home, so he would do best with an adopter who has breed experience and is willing to continue working with him through positive, structured training. Why you'll love Charlie: Playful, affectionate, and social Great with dogs and humans Thrives with activity and engagement Loyal, fun, and full of personality Charlie Barley is an incredible dog who just needs the right environment to truly shine. With the right balance of exercise, structure, and guidance, he will be an amazing companion. If you're looking for an energetic, loyal best friend and are ready to meet his needs, Charlie Barley is ready to meet you. All dogs in our care are also kept up-to-date on HW/Flea Prevention. For more on this, or for additional information, including the adoption process and our adoption fee scale for all our adoptable pets (including an explanation about Benefactor Dogs), please see our FAQs page: https://www.takepawsrescue.org/faq Any breed labels used by Take Paws Rescue, its employees/volunteers, or on vet records provided cannot be guaranteed. Breed labels are given based on information obtained during intake and/or best guesses based on appearance and/or temperament of the dogs and Take Paws Rescue gives no assurance to the accuracy of these labels. Labels are necessary for postings to many animal networking sites, such as our website, Chewy, Pet Finder, and others. These are in no way a guarantee. Additionally, exact age and potential size cannot be guaranteed. ***Take Paws Rescue saves dogs from high-kill shelters across the South, owner surrenders, and discarded dogs with uncertain futures. All of our animals live in foster homes where they are socialized, and well cared for. An application will be required to make sure it's the perfect match!
