About Kevin

Kevin is a 4 1/2-year-old beagle looking for his forever home. He is crate-trained and working on house training. He is good with cats, other dogs and with kids. Kevin is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to become part of your family. Oh My! Here's sweet Kevin! This beagle boy is described as affectionate, and snuggly and especially enjoys giving his humans plenty of hugs and kisses. This good boy is moderately active and loves to play with other dogs in his fenced-in backyard. A moderately active beagle boy, Kevin loves playing in his fenced in yard, running and wrestling with his foster siblings. He does exhibit some anxiety drool during car rides and as his confidence grows, hopefully he will overcome this. He enjoys meeting new people, small children and playing with other dogs. He is crate trained and spends time in his crate during meals and when left alone in the home - keeping the crate clean and dry. While he does bark, except for playtime activities, Kevin is not all that vocal. He absolutely loves a good cuddle session and follows his humans all around his foster home. Kevin is friendly to everyone human he’s met, and other dogs. He loves seeking attention from his human companions but playing with his foster siblings is the highlight of his day. Kevin is doing well walking on lead! Initially he may be a bit excited and pull but he will settle down to complete his walk. He’s also doing well with his house training, but these two skills will need to be completed in his forever home. Kevin is very curious, loves to "help" with meal preparation and will counter surf in the kitchen. To date, Kevin's only interest in stuffie toys has been chewing on them but he does enjoy a nice hard chewy to while away some time. He been classified as an A plus snuggler and really enjoys sofa and human interaction. While Kevin can misbehave or get into places/activities he should not, he is beginning to understand obedience commands and is very eager to please. He can still be startled by sudden movements or loud noises but once investigated, he seems to ignore future similar interruptions to his day. As he transitions in his new home, these incidents lessen over time. While his foster parents describe him as a perfect angel, he has shown some interest in chewing inappropriate things. Shoes, remotes, coins, scatter rugs and any small object that will feel good in a beagle's mouth will need to be carefully put out of his reach. Kevin seems to be a very adaptable and should do well in most home environment. An apartment, condo or free-standing home with a fenced in area that will allow him to run, explore or bask in the sunshine could be a perfect place to his forever home. An additional dog and/or older child would also work out fine for this sweet little guy but are not a requirement. If Kevin seems like the perfect addition to your home, please complete a Dog Adoption Application to get the process started. If you're interested in adopting Kevin, please first read about our adoption process. Then, complete an adoption application found at www.happypawsrescue.org under the *ADOPT* tab. Thank you for your interest in adopting! You may not know it, but you might have a BEAGLE to thank for your medicines! Beagles are used for safety testing of human and veterinary medicines for the same reasons that they make good pets; they're small and gentle-natured. Where does Happy Paws Rescue come into the picture? On a regular basis, research facilities have beagles that they release to us. It gives us and you a chance to give back to these sweet dogs that have contributed to the advancement of science. Please email us if you're ready to be a giant hero in the eyes of a little dog!
