About Nick

Nick is a 4 1/2-year-old beagle looking for his forever home. He is pen-trained and working on house training. He is good with cats, other dogs and with kids. Nick is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to become part of your family. Meet Nick!! This moderately active beagle boy has all the attributes of the perfect angel in any home. He enjoys everything about his new life, learning about dog toys and hard chewies. He does OK riding in the car, meeting new people, small children and playing with other dogs. He is pen trained and spends time in his pen when left alone in the home - keeping the crate clean and dry. He sleeps quietly through the night and when he's tired during the day, he enters the pen on his own and naps quietly. While he does bark, Nick is not all that vocal. He absolutely loves a good cuddle session and follows his humans all around his foster home. Nick is friendly to everyone human he’s met, children and other dogs. He loves jumping up on the sofa then seeking attention from his human companions for belly/back rubs and snuggling by their side. Big fun for Nick is his fenced in backyard where he explores then stretches out and soaks up the sun. Nick is doing well with house-training and eliminates in his backyard. He is still working on his walking on lead skills. With practice, these should develop quickly and he will be joining his family on a nice evening stroll. His house-training and leash walking skills will need to be completed by his new family. Nick is a curious beagle boy who tolerates car rides and is beginning to play with balls - especially those that contain treats! Like any curious beagle. Nick can get into places he should not, he is beginning to understand obedience commands and eager to please. Shoes, remotes, coins and any small object that will feel good in a beagle's mouth will need to be carefully put out of his reach. Nick is not fearful of sudden movements or loud noises, he simple stops what he's doing and examines the source of the disruption. Nick is described by his foster family as sweet, and he is enjoying all his companions in his foster home. Nick seems to be a very adaptable and should do well in most home environments. An apartment, condo or free-standing home with a fenced in area that will allow him to run, explore or bask in the sunshine could be a perfect place to his forever home. While an additional dog and/or older child would also work out fine for this sweet little guy, they are not a requirement. If Nick seems like the perfect addition to your home, please complete a Dog Adoption Application to get the process started. If you're interested in adopting Nick, please first read about our adoption process. Then, complete an adoption application found at www.happypawsrescue.org under the *ADOPT* tab. Thank you for your interest in adopting! You may not know it, but you might have a BEAGLE to thank for your medicines! Beagles are used for safety testing of human and veterinary medicines for the same reasons that they make good pets; they're small and gentle-natured. Where does Happy Paws Rescue come into the picture? On a regular basis, research facilities have beagles that they release to us. It gives us and you a chance to give back to these sweet dogs that have contributed to the advancement of science. Please email us if you're ready to be a giant hero in the eyes of a little dog! Thinking about adopting me? Here’s how: 1. Fill out an application found at www.happypawsrescue.org under the *ADOPT* tab. 2. Please allow 5-7 business days for us to review and respond to your application. 3. Approved applicants will be invited to come meet me at a scheduled meet and greet or adoption event. 4. If both you and the rescue agree that the dog you meet is a good fit for your home, you will fill out an adoption contract and exchange a small adoption fee. We specialize in the rescue of dogs and cats from high-kill shelters where the prospect of permanent placement is unlikely. We also serve as an educational resource for the public regarding the prevention of cruelty to animals, in addition to spay and neuter awareness to reduce the population of homeless and stray dogs and cats. By working with committed volunteers and veterinarians, we provide all dogs and cats in our care with medical attention and a safe haven prior to placement in their permanent, loving homes.
