Maxwell, known affectionately as Max or Goob, narrowly escaped a tough fate when BBAR stepped in, giving him a chance at life beyond the shelter. Diagnosed with hepatozoonosis, he’ll live with the condition, but it doesn’t hold him back—he manages it well with anti-inflammatories, joint supplements, and a steady routine. Most days, Maxwell feels great and stays active at his own pace, with only occasional flare-ups. He thrives on slow walks, couch snuggles, and quality time with his people. He’s smart and goofy, knows several commands, and is crate and house trained. Maxwell absolutely adores children and forms close bonds with his family. He enjoys meeting other dogs on walks and does best with calm canine housemates who respect his space, like his current easygoing foster brother. Dog parks are overwhelming, but structured introductions work well. He’s fully vetted, neutered, vaccinated, and past heartworm treatment. Maxwell’s independent spirit pairs well with his affectionate side—he’s just as content chilling on the couch as he is joining for a gentle stroll. If you’re looking for a lovable, easygoing companion who gives as much as he gets, Maxwell might be the perfect fit. Meet-and-greets and adoption trials are available.
