About Kahuna

Meet Kahuna—also known as The Big Kahuna, though don’t let the name fool you; he’s not a giant. Kahuna is a dark brown tabby with vivid green eyes and a personality that takes a little time to shine. When he first came to the sanctuary, he was feral and terrified of people, but after plenty of patience, good food, and gentle care, he’s truly blossomed. Now, he’ll greet you with a soft meow and has a lot more to say. Kahuna needs time and patience from his new family. He’ll likely hide at first in a new space, but if you let him adjust on his own terms, he’ll reward you with his trust and affection. Once he warms up, he loves head scratches, will follow you for attention, and has no shame in begging for treats—especially those irresistible lickable ones. He isn't keen on being picked up right now, but he enjoys playtime, especially with kicker toys, and would appreciate another cat companion to hang out with. Sunbathing is another favorite pastime. He recently had a dental, so his smile is extra bright, and he’s fully vetted: neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccines, and tested FIV & FeLV negative. An indoor-only home is a must for him, and like all cats, no declawing. Kahuna’s looking for someone who understands his need for patience in a new environment. If you visit during the afternoon, you’ll spot him asking someone for treats—he rarely misses a chance. If you're ready to give him the time he needs, you'll earn a charming companion for life.
