Adoption fee: $650 Meet Inspector Gadget — The Curious, Clever Sidekick You Didn’t Know You Needed Inspector Gadget is a 10-12 month old, 20-pound bundle of curiosity, athleticism, and heart wrapped in a non-shedding coat. With his bright, inquisitive personality, he approaches life like a detective on a mission— nose to the ground, eyes wide, ready to investigate every corner of the world around him. He’s an engaged, intelligent dog who thrives on activity, companionship, and having a job to do. Beneath his energetic exterior is a dog who truly loves being close to his person and feels most content when he’s part of the action. Daily Routine & Habits Inspector Gadget starts his day bright and early, usually around 6:30 AM, when he lets you know it’s time to get moving. After a quick trip to the garden, he’s ready for a short morning walk to kick off the day. Breakfast follows at 7:30 AM. During the day, Gadget settles in nicely while his person works. He’s capable of entertaining himself for stretches but will happily remind you when it’s time for attention, a walk, or a play session. Midday typically includes a trip to the park, and later in the afternoon he enjoys another walk and some training time. Evenings are a cozy mix of toy time, companionship, and winding down together before heading into his crate around 9:30 PM, where he sleeps through the night with a small treat and his blanket. He is: -Housetrained -Crate trained (may need a little encouragement to go in at bedtime) -Comfortable using a doggy door -Quick to learn routines and household rhythms Personality: Curious, Playful, and Devoted From the moment he arrived, Inspector Gadget showed himself to be confident, curious, and eager to engage with people and the world around him. He hopped into the car without hesitation, explored his new home with interest, and quickly began making eye contact and forming connections. He can be a little jumpy with sudden noises at first, but his curiosity quickly wins out. He is an incredibly playful dog! Fetch, walks, exploring the yard, or simply following his person from room to room—he’s happiest when he’s involved. Gadget is also surprisingly affectionate. While he enjoys activity, he settles beautifully when it’s time to relax and often curls up pressed against his person’s side. Physical closeness clearly helps him feel secure and content. He’s the kind of dog who: -Learns quickly (he figured out the dog door within 24 hours) -Loves to play and interact -Bonds closely with his people -Brings enthusiasm and curiosity to everything he does Social Life Inspector Gadget is a friendly, social dog who enjoys meeting new people and is generally enthusiastic about other dogs. On walks, he’s eager to say hello and would happily play if given the chance, though he’s still learning how to respect when another dog isn’t interested. He has done well with gentle neighborhood children he’s met in passing and has been calm around typical sights like strollers and wagons. Training He has already made noticeable progress on leash manners and basic skills. While he started out pulling and lunging, he now walks much more politely when calm. He is still working on commands like Sit, Down, and Off, as well as appropriate chewing and mouthy behavior when he wants attention. Like many smart, young dogs, he benefits from structure, consistency, and clear expectations. House Manners Inspector Gadget is reliably housetrained and uses the doggy door throughout the day. He is comfortable spending time in a pen with his bed, toys, and water when his person needs to leave for errands or meetings, and he settles fairly quickly. He does have a mischievous streak when he wants attention. If under-stimulated, he may try to chew on household items like pillows, blankets, or even a remote control - not surprising given his young age. Providing appropriate chew toys and regular interaction goes a long way in keeping him on track. He also enjoys digging in the yard—especially if there’s something interesting or “stinky” to investigate. The Honest Part: What Gadget Needs Help With Inspector Gadget is a great dog with a lot of potential. He has shown resource guarding behaviors, particularly around food and items he considers valuable. This behavior is very workable with the right approach, structure, and training, but it does require an experienced or committed owner who understands dog behavior and is willing to put in the time. The encouraging part is that Gadget is smart, adaptable, and highly motivated, which are exactly the traits that make progress possible. Inspector Gadget would thrive in a home that offers: -An active lifestyle with daily walks, play, and engagement -A person who enjoys training and working with a dog -Consistent structure and routine -Someone who appreciates a bright, energetic companion A yard would be wonderful, but the most important factor is a family committed to meeting his physical and mental needs. Why You’ll Love Him Inspector Gadget is a curious, clever guy trying to figure out a world full of new rules—and he’s already shown how quickly he can adapt. Even his challenging behaviors come from a place of intelligence, determination, and connection. He wants to engage, to learn, and to be part of a team. He is playful, affectionate, athletic, and deeply devoted once he bonds. With the right guidance, he is going to make a wonderful, loyal companion for someone ready to invest in him.
