Gerald is a 9-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer who stands out for his goofy personality and fondness for people. He’s happiest with a squeaky toy in his mouth or dropping a ball at your feet, always ready for another round of fetch. Since joining his foster home, Gerald has moved past his initial reserve and let his affectionate, loyal nature come through. He loves attention, especially chin scratches, and prefers to be right in the mix of whatever’s happening around the house. Active despite his age, Gerald relishes daily walks and fast-paced games of fetch. He’d benefit from consistent exercise to keep his sharp mind and tall build feeling good. At home, Gerald has house manners and is getting better at alerting when he needs to go out. He does fine being alone for a few hours and is still becoming more comfortable with solo time. Gerald knows "sit" and is learning to "stay". He’s food motivated and has displayed some treat guarding with other dogs, so an experienced adopter is best for managing mealtime routines. He’d be happiest as the only dog or with a compatible canine friend who understands boundaries. He’s fine with children over six and enjoys meeting new dogs on walks; however, he is not suitable for a home with cats.
