About Josta
Josta is a 3-year-old, medium-sized American Pit Bull Terrier mix weighing around 44lbs. She was surrendered through no fault of her own and comes with solid house and crate training experience from her previous home—a head start for anyone looking for a smooth transition. Josta’s working through heartworm treatment at the moment, and the shelter staff will walk you through her ongoing care so there are no surprises. Her previous family included middle-aged children, and Josta really flourished around them—playful, friendly, and gentle. She’s also lived with a male dog and did well, but showed some resource guarding when another female dog was in the mix. Because of this, Josta should be the only female dog in the house and needs careful introductions to new canine faces. With cats, her chase instincts kick in, though it’s all enthusiasm rather than aggression; she’ll do best in a cat-free home or one with bold, dog-savvy felines. Josta runs on the high-energy side and thrives when she has lots of exercise, play, and ongoing training. She could use a little polish on the leash but is eager to learn and bond with her people. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate companion and have an active home to match, Josta could be a perfect fit. Start your journey together! Apply now.
