About Toby
In another life, I’m pretty sure I was a stand-up comic… just stuck in a Basset Hound’s body. That’s what people say when they see my low-rider legs, goofy charm, and natural ability to make them laugh without even trying. I’m Toby—a 2 year-old, 47 pound mixed breed with big personality, big heart, and an even bigger love for my people. I’m house-trained, and currently working both my crate and leash manners. Sometimes I can’t help a little “speed-waddle” when something exciting catches my eye—but hey, every comedian has their quirks. I know “sit” and “down,” and I’m a quick learner—especially when treats are involved. When I first come out of my crate, I bring the energy (think opening act at a comedy show), but I settle down quickly and am more than happy to relax and hang out once I’ve gotten my zoomies out. I do best in a home without small children. I can be a little nervous at first and may need slow introductions with new people, but give me about 20 minutes and I’ll be your best friend. I can sometimes guard my toys, but it’s something that’s easily managed with guidance. I get along well with other dogs, and while I may chase cats, it’s more curiosity than anything else. I’d thrive with patient humans who understand that I just need a little time and consistency to shine. Because of my mixed breed, I have joint dysplasia and arthritis, so I’ll need to stay on joint supplements to keep me feeling my best. I still love walks, exploring, and playtime—I just need a family who will help me stay healthy and comfortable. At the end of the day, I’m a cuddly, loving boy who just wants to be close to his people. If you’re willing to be patient and work with me on my quirks, I promise to reward you with endless affection, laughs, and companionship. Life is better when you’re smiling—and I’ll make sure you do. My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip!
