About Wylie
Beep-beep… because I’m Wylie, and once I get going, I’m FAST. I’m a one year old Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) weighing about 28 pounds, and I’m basically the real-life version of a coyote on a mission — smart, quick, and always thinking three steps ahead. I’m house trained, crate trained, and leash trained, and I already know commands like “stay” and “outside.” I’m not just energy… I’m working-dog energy, the kind that needs a purpose and a family who gets it. I’m looking for a home that understands my breed — not novice dog owners, please. Heelers like me are loyal, intense, and built to move. I’d thrive with an active family who wants a true adventure buddy and training partner. Now, here’s the part of my story that explains why I need a little extra understanding: I was found running loose as a stray and had to be trapped on I-44. That was scary, and when I get overwhelmed, I can slip back into “flight mode” — which is why a secure privacy fence is a MUST for me. I’m not trying to be “bad,” I just have instincts that kick in when I’m frightened, and I need a family who will keep me safe and set me up for success. I’ve also been on crate rest while healing from multiple broken bones, so I’ll need someone who can help me ease back into activity the right way — and once I’m cleared, I’ll be ready to put all that heeler drive to good use. I’m great with other dogs and I do well with older kids, but I’m not good with cats. My herding instincts are strong, and I can’t help wanting to chase and control movement — it’s in my DNA. If you’re experienced, active, and ready for a loyal little coyote who just needs the right pack to belong to, I’m your Wylie! My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip!
