About Blue
Hi, my name is Blue! I'm a PURPLE pawprint, which means I will fit well into a home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home: -Personality: Playful, affectionate, independent -Can Live with Kids: Unknown history - recommending dog savvy kids 6+ at this time. All kiddos will need to meet at WHS prior to an adoption being finalized to make sure it's a good fit! Up to counselor's discretion. -Can Live with Cats: Unknown history - slow and supervised introductions always recommended. -Can Live with Dogs: Yes - Blue would likely do well with a social dog of similar size/energy level. All introductions done at WHS to ensure everyone gets along. -Can do Apartment Living: No thanks - Blue has never lived indoors and would do best adjusting to a home with larger space to explore. -Potty Trained: Working on it -Bite History: No -Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes - basic obedience or 1 private lesson. (Breed requirement) -Energy Level: Medium/High -Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, neuter/microchip. Meet Blue - a reserved guy who's still learning about life. He came to WHS after spending over a year living in a kennel 24/7, and because of that, the world can feel like a big and unfamiliar place. Given his past, it’s completely understandable that he may need extra time to settle into a new home and learn to trust the people around him. He may be slow to warm up, but with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, he has the potential to form incredibly meaningful bonds. As with any new 4-legged family member, we recommend giving Blue the space and time he needs to decompress and adjust to his surroundings. A calm, predictable environment will help him feel safe and supported as he learns a new routine. If you're interested in meeting Blue, please fill out an application for review. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
