We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Nala, 8 years old, spayed female, Shepherd/Retriever mix, weighs 52 pounds. She is currently in a foster home in HOUSTON, TEXAS and can transport to a city near you once approved. There is an area that is outside of Houston that has become a known dumping ground for dogs. Nala was abandoned when her owners moved out of their house. We have no idea how long ago that happened, but one of the networkers in the area spotted her and took her home. Nala is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. She was found with a group of dogs and her tail has never stopped wagging. Nala is a sweet, easygoing girl with a peaceful presence that makes her a joy to have around. She has a naturally calm demeanor but still enjoys her playful moments, making her a wonderful balance of relaxed and fun. Dog-Friendly & Social Nala interacts beautifully with other dogs, especially larger breeds (50–60 lbs). She has a gentle, submissive play style—often lying down, wagging her tail, and licking her dog friends while happily engaging. She respects boundaries, recognizes when other dogs are done playing, and has shown no concerning behaviors when meeting new dogs, even on walks. Great with Kids Nala has been around young children, including a toddler, and has shown patience and kindness. She’s tolerant, calm, and not easily overwhelmed, making her a great candidate for a family home. She would do well with kids of various ages, especially with respectful interactions. We have no history with cats. Leash & Home Manners She walks nicely on leash with a calm pace. Occasionally, she may stop and need a little encouragement to keep going, but overall she’s very manageable. Nala is fully house-trained and crate-trained—she now rests comfortably in her crate for several hours during the day and overnight. Home Life & Routine Nala has a moderate energy level. She enjoys occasional bursts of playful zoomies but is generally relaxed and content lounging nearby. She can adapt well to both active and more laid-back households. While she would enjoy having a canine companion, she would also thrive as a solo dog soaking up all the love. Food & Habits Nala has good manners overall, though she may prefer some space while eating—especially around unfamiliar dogs. She has shown no issues with people around her food and hasn’t displayed toy guarding behaviors. The Ideal Home for Nala Nala would do best in a home that appreciates her calm, loving nature. Whether it’s a family with children, a home with another friendly dog, or a quieter household, she’s ready to settle in and be a loyal, gentle companion.
