About Rusty
Meet Rusty — The Fetching King with a Heart of Gold At 4 years old and a solid 94 pounds (with a “currently cultivating mass” situation he’s working on) Rusty is a big, happy German Shepherd with an even bigger personality. This guy lives for two things: fetch and walks. Toss a ball and you’ve just activated his life’s purpose. Lace up your shoes and he’s already at the door, tail wagging like a metronome set to “pure joy.” Rusty is what you’d call enthusiastically friendly. He does great with other dogs and would likely enjoy a canine buddy who can match his upbeat energy. Cats, however, are… extremely fascinating in his opinion, so a cat-free home would be best unless you’re ready to supervise his “intense curiosity club.” He’s been around kids, but due to his size and zest for life, he’d do best with older, respectful children who won’t get bowled over by his happy-go-lucky zoomies. Because he’s a smart, strong German Shepherd, Rusty is looking for a home with breed experience—someone who understands his need for structure, exercise, and mental stimulation so he can truly thrive and be his best self. At his core, Rusty is just a big ol’ sunshine beam in dog form—loyal, playful, and always ready for the next adventure (or snack… or both). Looking for: A home with German Shepherd (or similar breed) experience A love for walks, playtime, and enrichment Older kiddos or adults Possibly a dog sibling A human who doesn’t mind sharing their heart… and maybe their couch Rusty’s ready to trade in shelter life for a forever home where he can be your loyal sidekick, your walking buddy, and your reigning champion of fetch. If interested, please call the shelter at 231-861-5395 and leave a message to be placed on this dog's adoption list. No obligation, but it reserves your place in line on the list. The shelter will contact individuals as they appear on the list. The adoption fee is $95 and you receive certificates for $50 towards spay/neuter and $10 towards rabies vaccine if not already done. All dogs are heartworm tested, receive a DHLPP, flea and tick treatment, and are dewormed.
