Nami is a gentle, observant 3-year-old girl weighing about 16 lbs. She is spayed and up to date on vaccinations. Nami’s story is important to understand who she is today. She was rescued from an overcrowded municipal shelter in South Korea, where she was attacked by other dogs and lost one of her eyes. She was later adopted but spent about 10 months in a home that was not the right fit. During that time, she did not have consistent structure, routine, or appropriate outlets like regular walks. There were also multiple anxiety medication changes without a clear, consistent behavioral plan, which appeared to add to her confusion rather than helping her feel secure. She is now with Never Alone Animal Rescue and finally receiving the stability, routine, and decompression she needs — and she is already making steady, meaningful progress. Her name, Nami, was inspired by the character from One Piece — a navigator who endured hardship early on before finding her true crew. Like her namesake, Nami is learning what it means to feel safe, understood, and part of a home. 🌿 Personality • Quiet, sensitive, and observant • Shy at first, but warms up with patience • Enjoys being near her person without being demanding • Has started approaching her foster and offering gentle licks • Builds trust slowly but genuinely 🚶 Confidence & Walks • Walks are her biggest source of confidence • Currently enjoys multiple walks a day • Curious and engaged with her environment • May pull or startle, but improves with calm guidance • Continues to gain confidence outdoors 👩👩👧 People & Socialization • Does well with calm adults (men and women) • Shows quiet curiosity toward strangers • With dogs: polite, calm, and socially appropriate • Can coexist peacefully with other dogs 🏠 Home Behavior • House-trained • Calm and low-key indoors • No aggression observed • May have stress-related responses when overwhelmed, including soft stool or occasional anal gland expression • May chew barriers like baby gates if left suddenly without preparation • Benefits greatly from routine and predictability 🍽 Food & Adjustment • Can be hesitant to eat in new environments • Appetite improves as she feels safe • Does best with a calm, low-pressure feeding routine 🛟 What She Needs • Patient, experienced adopter • Calm, predictable home environment • Someone home often (WFH or similar lifestyle preferred) • Regular walks to continue building confidence • Gentle handling and time to build trust 💛 Adoption Fee: $500 Includes spay surgery, vaccinations, microchip, and veterinary care. 💬 The Reality Nami is not an “easy” or instantly social dog. She will need time, patience, and understanding. But she is already showing that she wants to trust and connect, and that progress is real. 💛 Why Nami If you value depth over instant gratification, Nami is incredibly rewarding. Watching her slowly open up, choose you, and feel safe is something special. 📸 Follow her journey: @p.s.nami_the_heartstealer 🧡
